Healing Brews - My Favorite Teas (And Coffees) For Cancer Support
I love tea and I believe certain teas can make for incredibly powerful (and flavorful) complimentary support for cancer, as well as lots of other conditions. For this very reason I also feel it’s really important to do your research and ask your doctor to give you the thumbs up first - some teas have properties that could interfere with medication you’re taking or have properties that could make your condition worse.
#1
My Morning Coffee:
It’s always decaf because I’m one of those women whose breast tissue will get inflamed with caffeine (cancer or not!). Here's a great article with links about this.
I mix a half teaspoon of my metabolism mix into it. All ingredients boost your metabolism and are also known for their cancer fighting properties. Quick recap - the ingredients for this mix are: turmeric powder, ginger powder, ceylon cinnamon powder, cayenne powder.
Interesting little tid-bit: Ginger powder can be more potent than fresh.
Recent studies have delved into the comparative effectiveness of ginger powder and fresh ginger, shedding light on the potential benefits of ginger in its powdered form. One study published in the "Journal of Medicinal Food" explored the bioactive compounds in both fresh and powdered ginger, revealing that the drying process involved in creating ginger powder may concentrate certain beneficial components. The study suggests that ginger powder could potentially offer a more potent source of bioactive compounds, including gingerols and shogaols, which are renowned for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. This insight into the potential advantages of ginger powder over fresh ginger provides valuable information for those seeking to maximize the health benefits of this versatile spice. To explore the details of this study, you can refer to the research article here.
When the budget allows (because this stuff tends to be on the pricey side), I add half a teaspoon of Turkey Tail mushroom powder. It boosts the immune system and adds a nice earthy flavor.
I add a pinch of baking soda to reduce acidity. It not only makes the coffee milder but is less harsh on your teeth. And if you’re taking hormone blockers and/or are going through chemo/radiation therapy, you are likely prone to bone loss already.
If you’re on the keto diet (or are looking to switch to it) adding some MCT oil or ghee is also great to give yourself much needed fuel.
Once brewed, I like using my hand mixer to stir it up for a few seconds because it creates fluffy froth.

My All-Day Tea:
For some reason, plain water doesn’t taste good to me and actually leaves me feeling thirsty no matter how much I chug down. For this reason I prepare entire batches of this mixture I’m about to share that the entire family enjoys. It’s tasty and has loads of benefits for those with cancer, but also if you have allergies.
1 heaped tbsp stinging nettle leaf
1 tbsp green tea
1 tsp matcha powder
1 gallon filtered water
Let brew on low heat for 20 minutes. Avoid boiling it. Just heat it enough for some steam to develop and the stinging nettle to start getting absorbed as it tends to just sit on the water for a while. (BTW, dried stinging nettle has lost its sting, so nothing to worry about)
Stevia according to your taste. Chill and enjoy all day.
Additional flavors that mix well:
Earl’s Grey (has caffeine though)
Lemon (if you’re hoping for added Vitamin C I would add that only into chilled tea right before you’re about to drink it because Vitamin C degrades quickly and loses its benefits)
Mint
I often take a cup of the just prepared hot batch for immediate enjoyment and add one fresh rosemary sprig to my cup. I crush the rosemary a little so that its properties release quicker. !!!

Evening Chai
This is a version of Turmeric Golden Tea and may not be everyone’s “cup of tea.” I love it and I also use ingredients that help with sleep. You can find it and additional information such as studies regarding all the ingredients on patreon.com/sabinebuchanan
